Autism And The Impact Of Computers And Technology

In this video I share my story of where my fascination with technology and computers stems from. I discuss how technology has evolved over the years. I talk about the “techno fright” I once had and how somebody very special came into my life to help me overcome that. Later I go on to talk about a major computer crash that I had and how that was solved. In my honest opinion I think people with autism are actually affected more profoundly by these computer crashes than quote “normal” people. I couldn’t have solved my computer dilemma without the help of an online technician named “RL” In the end I mentioned three technology dreams that I have! Enjoy this video! Dianne PS. I didn’t mention every single detail of my computer crash but I mentioned enough to give you the “gist” of it.

This atypical topic for the Brookdale Computer Users Group (BCUG) was a serious discussion on the computer connection with human spirituality. Oft referenced were the generational differences as they apply to computers and technology and how we each interact with machines: from the printing press, to radio, and to social media. Combined PC Support Services Inc. releases its On-Line Internet based PC and Software repair service.

(PRWEB) September 4, 2001

September 1st, 2001

Combined PC Support Services officially releases its Internet based On-Line PC Software Repair Services through its website My PC Crashed.Com. (

We repair PC’s and software over the Internet. While, this concept is new to home computer users and small businesses, the technology is not. The IT departments in most of the larger firms in US that have distributed offices perform this service daily. But, this, as a consumer service is one of the newest things to hit the Internet.

This magic is done by using remote control technology that allows us to run the customers computer, while they watch, just like we were sitting there with them. The customer is always aware of everything the technician does and is in control at all times.

Our staff cleans files, removes programs, repairs broken files, replaces drivers, performs preventative maintenance and tests software, all, while the customer watches. We also install software and train users to use it, right on their own computer.

Our service can literally remove the damage done by years of software use, in less than one hour.

Our clients simply attach to our technicians via the net and watch while we perform a series of tests and repairs to bring your computer back to its maximum potential while cleaning up all those irritating software problems. This is not an automated service, as only a skilled PC technician can perform this manual restoration service. Our computer tech’s can repair almost any PC problem, as long as it doesn’t require a screwdriver.

If you have an older or underachieving computer, don’t throw it away. Let our experienced tech’s return it back to its days of glory and extend its useful lifespan. Also, you don’t have to unplug it and haul it across town to use our services.

There are a series of services outlined on our website at

Computer Specialists with Mobile Developer Skills in Demand in 2011

Computer Specialists with Mobile Developer Skills in Demand in 2011

New York, NY (PRWEB) August 08, 2011

Over the past 90 days, more than 33,000 new jobs were advertised online for Computer Specialists with mobile skills, according to WANTED Analytics™ (, the leading source of real-time business intelligence for the talent marketplace. With a rising number of companies developing mobile applications and mobile-friendly websites, hiring demand has increased 76% since the same 90-day period in 2010 and 33% since the beginning of the year.

Web Developers were the most common occupation to require these mobile skills, with more than 8,600 jobs advertised online. Computer Software Engineers are also highly demanded, with recruiters placing more than 7,900 new online job ads that included requirements for mobile skills. Other Computer Specialist occupations that saw high volumes of job ads over the 90-day period were Computer Systems Analysts, Computer Support Specialists and Software Quality Assurance Engineers and Testers.

Recruiting conditions will be moderately difficult across the US, since Computer Specialists are highly in demand. However, recruiters will experience varying degrees of difficulty sourcing for specialists with mobile skills based upon the available talent supply in each location. For example, Recruiters in New York placed the highest volume of ads over this 90-day period. According to the Hiring Scale™, there are approximately 8 potential candidates in the New York workforce per job ad. In comparison, the talent pool in the city with the third highest demand, San Francisco, consists of about 13 potential candidates per job ad over this period. Since their talent pool is relatively larger, recruiters there are likely to experience easier conditions when sourcing candidates for open positions.

The Hiring Scale measures conditions in local job markets by comparing hiring demand and labor supply. The Hiring Scale is part of the WANTED Analytics platform that offers business intelligence for the talent marketplace.

Nearly One in Five U.S. Adults Are Concerned that the World Will End on December 21, 2012 According to Backblaze Survey

Nearly One in Five U.S. Adults Are Concerned that the World Will End on December 21, 2012 According to Backblaze Survey

San Mateo, CA (PRWEB) December 13, 2012

Backblaze, leading provider of continuous online backup, today released the findings of a survey conducted online on their behalf by Harris Interactive among over 3,000 U.S. adults. The study examines people’s general concerns going into the New Year and regrets in the event of the Apocalypse on December 21, 2012. The survey was commissioned in light of the ever-increasing dialogue around the Mayan calendar ending and the apocalyptic consequences that people think this may bring about. Backblaze, naturally, advocates that if the world does not end on this date, it is vital to have a backup plan going forward.

While, nearly one in five (16%) U.S. adults report they are at least somewhat concerned that the world will in fact end on December 21, 2012; their primary concerns are a bit more mundane. Nearly three out of four (73%) people showed at least some level of concern for losing files on their computer (e.g. documents, photos, music) and nearly one half (47%) reported they are extremely/fairly concerned about digital file loss. Losing family photos also showed a strong response, with 70% reporting that this was of at least some concern.

“While this survey was commissioned as a bit tongue-in-cheek, at Backblaze we hear from people every day who feel as though their world is collapsing when they have lost precious files, photos and documents. We founded Backblaze because we recognized the importance of helping people have a ‘backup plan’ to ensure that every piece of data, no matter the size, is continuously, safely and securely backed up.

We had a surge of customers recently that we were able to help rebuild their digital life following loss and damage to their computers from Hurricane Sandy. This study demonstrates just how devastating losing files on one’s computer can be,” said Gleb Budman, CEO and co-founder of Backblaze.

When asked if the apocalypse were truly coming on this date, what regrets would people have, if any, 70% reported that they would have some regret. Not traveling more was cited most often by U.S. adults with nearly one-third (32%) reporting to have this regret, which was followed closely by those who regretted not spending more time with their families (30%). Nearly one in four people (23%) reported that they would regret not following their dreams and spending too much time worrying about money (22%). And one in four men (25%) would regret not having had more sex if the Mayan prediction proves true. Interestingly, only 10% of women surveyed would have the same regret.

Other interesting facts to note from the survey include:

Over half (51%) of employed U.S. adults are at least somewhat concerned on some level about losing their job in 2013.
40% expressed at least some concern that they were entering the New Year having not followed through with their 2012 New Year’s resolutions.
Nearly one in five (14%) U.S. adults would regret working too much if the world came to an end on December 21, 2012 and 11% would regret spending so much time worrying too much about their weight.

In the event that the world is going to be around for a while, Backblaze would like people to know that its service is the easiest way to backup all their data online. It requires no user set up; backs up unlimited data, and can also help locate a lost or stolen computer all for just five dollars per month. Backblaze’s service delivers peace of mind with the assurance that users can access their files, any time, from any computer with an Internet connection.
