Keynote Speakers Showcase Technology Expertise at HI-TEC 2014

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) May 22, 2014

The High Impact Technology Exchange Conference (HI-TEC) is already known by educators as the one-stop shop conference to keep up with the latest technologies. By bringing in Chad Jenkins, Associate Professor of Computer Science at Brown University and Hilary Mason, Data Scientist in Residence at Accel, Scientist Emeritus at bitly, co-founder of HackNY, and co-host of DataBotham, the bar has been lifted once again as the “place-to-be”.

These two phenomenal keynote guests will be speaking at HI-TEC July 21-24 at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago. HI-TEC is a national conference on advanced technological education that focuses on the preparation needed by the existing and future workforce for companies involved in the high-tech sectors that drive the U.S. economy. This conference not only educates America’s technical employees, but also updates their knowledge and skills for the future.

On Wednesday, July 23rd from 8:30-9:45 A.M., Professor Jenkins will be addressing the audience on perception, control, and learning issues at the intersection of robotics, computer vision, computer animation, machine learning and interactive systems. During his keynote, Professor Jenkins will be doing a robotics demonstration.

Professor Jenkins is predominantly interested in the development of methods for autonomous control and awareness through leveraging human performance from the real world. His work showcases the idea that robot control and computational perception are better learned from human demonstration rather than explicit computer programming. Professor Jenkins previous efforts have mostly been geared towards humanoid robotics with regard to learning primitive behaviors for robot control through imitation.

On Thursday, July 24th from 12:30-1:30 P.M., Hilary Mason will discuss machine learning, data mining and Artificial Intelligence. She advises Mayor Bloomberg on Technology and Innovation and is very enthusiastic about the larger conspiracy to evolve the emerging discipline of data science. As a Member of the Business Advisory Board of Maternova, Inc., Professor Mason often releases code on her data science blog Dataists (dataists.com). She is widely published and regularly speaks at academic and industry conferences.

Professor Jenkins and Mason bring a lot to the table at this year’s unique conference. HI-TEC firmly supports the mission of the National Science Foundation’s Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program to strengthen the skills of educators and technicians whose work is vitally important to the nation’s prosperity and security. These two keynote speakers will help educators attending HI-TEC to keep up with today’s exponential growth in technology and innovation. The keynotes will allow educators to access leading-edge content that can be used in classrooms along with connections to leading subject matters in the technology field.
