Local Boston Author Releases Debut Book; “Ruins of the Mind”

Swampscott, MA (PRWEB) April 24, 2012

Author J.P. Stadtlander (http://www.jpstadtlander.com) announced today the official launch of his debut book “Ruins of the Mind” on May 15th, 2012. The book, an anthology of short stories, focuses on science fiction, unusual circumstances and touches on the possibilities of what might be right under our nose.

An elderly home in north-eastern, Ohio has hired a handyman that has an unusual effect on those around him. At the same time he is hired, strange things seem to affect the residents of this quiet retirement home. Justice is served for those who are uncaring or unkind, yet rewarded to those who are compassionate and kind to others. Discover an elderly home like no other in “The Lantern”

A species which has existed with us for tens of thousands of years is about to make itself known to us. However, the knowledge of its existence is not the unusual part of this story, the reason for their coming into communication with us could spell certain doom for our entire way of life. Learn how in “The Ter’roc”.

J.P. taps into his psyche as well as that of the reader. He enjoys exploring the implausible, yet still finding a way to make it possible. “I have always loved the possibility of ‘what-if’ and enjoy trying to put myself in other people’s shoes and learning to discover how they might think and act if really put into the situations.”, states J.P. Stadtlander

The book also contains a story that puts the reader in the shoes of a character who is on one of the flights that collides with the World Trade Center and recounts what the people on the aircraft also went through in real time prior to the act. Experience it yourself in “Feathers in the Wind”.

“Ruins of the Mind” will be available in paperback on Amazon and at independent bookstores nationwide as well as Kindle and eBook on May 15th, 2012.

Dexter Morgan, Eat Your Heart Out!

Dexter Morgan, Eat Your Heart Out!

Boston, MA (PRWEB) June 18, 2013

According to the most recent report by the US Department of Health and Human Services, 676,569 children were the victims of child abuse and neglect in 2011. And of that number, more than 24% of victims were younger than 3 years old.

These statistics leave many of us wondering what sort of a monster could harm a child. We feel a sense of outrage and hope the justice system will punish them in a manner befitting their crimes. But what happens when our system falls short? How many of us would support a vigilante that carried out the punishment these criminals deserve?

In The Steel Van Man (August 2013), author Jason P. Stadtlander takes readers inside the complex mind of a serial killer who targets men and women that prey on children. The story begins in a sleepy coastal town north of Boston, where a murderer is on the loose. Detective Stanley Devonshire is called in to determine who is responsible and how the killer has managed to elude police.

At the outset, there is no discernible thread connecting the killings, so Devonshire enlists the help of his longtime friend Detective Mark Brown. A stunning state police officer and an imposing federal agent also join them, and after some digging they discover that similar murders have been going on for nearly 100 years. Devonshire is certain he is close to solving the case, but in his attempt to identify the killer, will he or someone close to him become the hunter’s next prey?

The Steel Van Man has the reader holding his breath and guessing at every turn as Stadtlander weaves together a riveting story of murder, secrets, and justice. He brings to life subjects ripped from today’s headlines, including:

Child abuse and neglect
Sexual predators
Neighborhood vigilantes
Child pornography on the internet
Parenting in the 21st century
Criminal psychology

As a longtime IT professional, Stadtlander leads workshops for parents on computer and Internet safety. He is also a father himself.

“My children have been a driving force behind this book,” Stadtlander says. “I touch on subjects that are very difficult for parents to come to terms with. Unfortunately, they are also part of a reality we all face.”
