Just Released Video Shows Why a Computer is the Worst Place to Learn a New Language

Just Released Video Shows Why a Computer is the Worst Place to Learn a New Language

Champaign, IL (PRWEB) June 24, 2014

The summer season has begun, and many people are buying computer programs to learn languages.

Caveat Emptor – Buyer Beware, warns Mark Frobose, founder of and bestselling author of Power Portuguese.

According to Mark, computers are among the absolute worst places to learn a language.

“Computers shackle language learners to one location and prevent people from using life’s many travel and waiting periods to learn languages,” explains Mark, whose Power Italian Accelerated is rapidly becoming America’s favorite audio Italian program.

According to Frobose, there are many key areas where audio language programs work far better than computer language programs. Some examples include:

1. While mowing the lawn.

2. While walking the dog.

3. While driving down the highway.

4, While fishing.

5. While waiting at a stop sign.

6. While practicing the guitar.

7. While playing frisbee.

8. While riding a bike.

“All of these and many more activities present massive language learning opportunities that are simply not possible to do in front of a computer,” reasons Mark, who is the bestselling author of http:// Power Spanish Accelerated.

Learn Languages Everywhere™ is the motto of The Language Audiobooks(R) method is an extremely effective and versatile audio language learning system that can be used anywhere for any duration of time to teach people to speak any language while in the car, at home or on a smartphone! Designed specifically for use while on the go, this challenging, versatile and fast-paced method introduces, reviews and challenges language learners to interact successfully in spoken languages from any location so they can learn to speak any language of their dreams during otherwise wasted down time.

Quakertown, Pa (PRWEB) July 25, 2014

Trend reviewers have named Computer Cable Store™ as an online hardware store with a very high query rate in Google’s search index. At a recent conference Computer Cable Store™ announced the release of their segment of Networx™ computer cables.

“When Computer Cable Store™ first conceived the idea of serving a wider consumer base through the internet, it was decided that the best way to go about it was by creating a niche,” said Jeramie Cavanaugh, marketing executive with Computer Cable Store™. “From that day to the present, Computer Cable Store™ specializes in marketing computer cables from different manufacturers. The main goal during the initial days of Computer Cable Store™ was to provide the customers with every possible type of computer cable, be it a Cat5e computer cable or a more versatile coaxial cable.”

The conference attendees had performed a systemic analysis before attending the press conference and surely, Computer Cable Store™ stocked computer cables for various purposes. “Since the startup, Computer Cable Store™ has grown slowly but surely, and today the company can proudly say that it has an asset list of all the computer cables available in the market,” concluded Jeramie Cavanaugh.

“Due to the success of the Networx™ computer cable niche, Computer Cable Store™ did begin going into uncharted horizons by adding various accessories like wall mounts and converters, but the customers still favor us for the diversity in the computer cable merchandise,” said George McDowell, product manager at Computer Cable Store™. When asked which computer cables sell the most, Jeramie Cavanaugh replied, “The sales of Cat6 and Cat5e computer cables are pretty neck and neck. Laguna Tools Announces the New SmartShop 3 CNC Machining Center

Laguna Tools Announces the New SmartShop 3 CNC Machining Center

Irvine, California (PRWEB) August 15, 2014

Laguna Tools has recently announced the introduction of the NEW SmartShop 3 CNC Machining Center, developed to introduce an advanced technological platform for the next generation of Laguna CNC Machinery.

The machine features a new computer-designed frame that includes an all-welded structural steel base to ensure the accuracies and cut qualities that have remained key characteristics of the SmartShop CNC product line. Additionally, the new SmartShop’s structural steel gantry is internally reinforced, permitting the use of a variety of machining package options. Finally, a gantry-mounted carousel tool changer was added to reduce tool change times; an especially relevant feature on large table format machines.

The fluid movement of the Laguna SmartShop 3 CNC can be contributed to the precise machining of frame components, precision-ground contour guide rails in all axes, and top-notch “closed-loop” servos and drives by the innovative OSAI Open machine controller.

Movements on both X and Y axes are achieved with world-class helical rack-and-pinions driven by precision planetary drive systems. Z-axis motion is controlled by a precision-ground ball screw and the precision planetary drive system. Another benefit of using a planetary drive system is that it permits Laguna Engineering to mount the guide rails lower on the side of the base frames. This results in the tables easier for the machine operator to load and unload.

Included as a standard feature on the new SmartShop 3 models is a Laguna Tools designed “pod-ready” vacuum table, which combines with six vacuum zones, providing unbeatable fixturing possibilities. Part locator pins and extra -large vacuum ports have been included specifically for panel processing needs.

Another new innovation for the Laguna SmartShop 3 is the inclusion of the new OSAI Open machine control system. It includes a touch screen PC to provide a user-friendly GUI (Graphic User Interface). This also allows the machine to be connected to the local area network (LAN), making file transfers a breeze, while maintaining the reliability of a leading industrial CNC machine controller.

“I gave Laguna Engineering a challenge to develop the next generation SmartShop CNC,” said Torben Helshoj, President of Laguna Tools. “The design requirements were quite simple. It had to build on the tremendous success the SmartShop CNCs have enjoyed. It had to be a platform that would allow us to expand the CNC product line in a variety of directions (into the foreseeable future). It had to have the best vacuum table in the industry. It had to have a “full-feature” machine controller that was still easy-to-learn and easy-to-use and that could handle multi-axis applications. And, it had to be affordable. I am extremely pleased with the outcome of this project, the Laguna SmartShop 3! It truly expresses our company spirit, ‘Thriving on Innovation.’ I think the future is very bright for this product.”

The Laguna SmartShop 3 is available in a variety of standard table sizes including 4 x 4, 4 x 8, 5 x 10, and 5 x 12. Custom table sizes and machining packages can also accommodate special application needs.

Laguna Tools is a global leader in affordable CNC technology for the wood, plastic, non-ferrous, and aerospace industries. The privately owned company is based in Irvine, CA, and has a near-31-year history of product innovation. The company prides itself in sourcing the very finest machine components worldwide to ensure that Laguna Tool products offer performance second-to-none.

ASAP Systems Makes Headway in the Environmental Solutions Industry by Providing MBC with Its Scalable Online Inventory and Asset Tracking System, BarCloud

ASAP Systems Makes Headway in the Environmental Solutions Industry by Providing MBC with Its Scalable Online Inventory and Asset Tracking System, BarCloud

Online Asset Tracking- Environmental Solutions

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) July 30, 2014

MBC, located in South Island, New Zealand, is a company that has specialized in environmental solutions involving project management, animal control, vegetation services, and erosion control since 2007. The company’s recent client growth and expansion into new areas of business prompted them to purchase a substantial amount of new equipment (assets) such as computers, laptops, generators, satellite phones, GPS devices, radios, and more. In order to manage the increase in assets, MBC wanted a cloud-based asset and inventory system that could monitor the location and status of assets anytime, anywhere.

Using Excel to track hundreds of moving assets (in-office and off-site) was ineffective for MBC because it failed to provide real-time inventory operations data. The unsophisticated system was not capable of tracking equipment that frequently changed users and locations. Adding to the challenge, employees worked simultaneously in a number of unique job sites, from inner city Auckland to remote mine sites and forests. Company managers were having trouble keeping their employees accountable for the equipment they used; they wanted to avoid the occurrence of employees losing equipment in “the bush.” In addition, management sought to track equipment maintenance activities to extend the useful life of their assets. Without this high level of asset control, the company failed to oversee which resources were being used, where they were being used, and what was still available.

After researching online, MBC chose ASAP Systems’ BarCloud, a SaaS application in the cloud that allowed them to visualize a more accurate picture of their business, especially when it came to their inventory of assets. After initial training, the team could easily input asset data into the online system database and begin checking out or loaning out equipment to employees spread throughout New Zealand. Management received the level of oversight they desired through the ability to view the real-time location, status, and user of equipment online. In addition, BarCloud gave them the ability to log scheduled and performed equipment maintenance tasks as well as rename the data fields and tabs in the system. At the end of the day, the company could focus more on environmental solution strategies by spending less time managing spreadsheets. ASAP Systems was able to save the company time and money through better visibility and control of their assets.

“ASAP Systems’ BarCloud stood out because it would give us the ability to grow into the online system as our company grew,” said Adam Walker, Technical Manager at MBC.

Velodyne in the Driver?s Seat at Computer History Museum Exhibit on Autonomous Vehicles

Morgan Hill, CA (PRWEB) May 29, 2014

As carmakers edge closer to the era of the self-driving car, it’s instructive to look at how we got here.

That’s the premise behind a new exhibit at Silicon Valley’s Computer History Museum (CHM) — one in which pioneering technology from Velodyne occupies a starring role.

Entitled, “Where To? A History of Autonomous Vehicles,” the exhibit chronicles the decades-long challenge of bringing self-driving cars to the general public. According to the museum, self-driving cars have remained perpetually “two decades away” since the 1930s, while autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicles have conquered the air and sea, and roamed the edges of the solar system.

The CHM exhibit coincides with this week’s landmark introduction of Google’s latest iteration of its self-driving car – one that has neither a steering wheel nor a gas pedal. The new car does feature Velodyne’s real-time 3D LiDAR sensor, mounted atop the vehicle, for object detection and collision avoidance.

Displayed prominently at the museum are Velodyne’s flagship LiDAR HDL products — the classic HDL-64E and the lightweight, compact HDL-32E. Visitors to the Museum can witness Velodyne LiDAR in action in three installations:

Mounted atop a stationary Google self-driving vehicle is the HDL-64E; thanks to images projected on the big screen, visitors can see what the Google car sees through its Velodyne “eyes”
On select dates, visitors can take a test ride in a Google self-driving vehicle and get up close and personal with the HDL-64E
Mounted on a column within the exhibit, the HDL-32E operates in continuous mode, measuring the entire exhibit in real-time – visitors moving through the exhibit halls are captured and their movements are displayed on a big screen TV

At the opening VIP event, David Hall, founder and CEO of Velodyne, reminisced with other leaders in the industry, including fellow DARPA Grand Challenge competitor Chris Urmson, who now heads the self-driving car project at Google.

“It’s tremendously exciting to see that this technology has developed from a specialized, highly futuristic event like the 2004-05 DARPA Grand Challenge in the desert to now taking center stage at a mainstream museum,” Hall said. “Now, members of the general public are able to receive rides and see how object detection and collision avoidance using Veloyne’s spinning LiDAR sensor really works.”

“The Museum is very excited about bringing this fascinating topic to the public,” said Kirsten Tashev, Museum Vice President of Collections and Exhibitions. “If you live in the Bay Area, Google self-driving cars are a common sight, but until now, the public hasn’t gotten a chance to see these cars up close. Even more exciting is the opportunity this exhibit presents for the Museum’s large international audience, who will be particularly excited to learn about the Google self-driving cars as well as other cool Silicon Valley companies, like… Velodyne, the company that developed the LiDAR, which is a key technology used on most self-driving cars.”

The exhibit explores the history of autonomous vehicles as portrayed in science fiction and popular culture. “Self-guiding vehicles go way back, from auto tillers on sailboats to the modern torpedo in the 1860s, and autopilots for planes before World War I,” said Marc Weber, Founder and Curator of the Museum’s Internet History Program. “Your breakfast cereal was likely harvested by a driverless combine. Robotic carts are cruising around Mars right now. Yet one deceptively modest goal has stayed in the driveway since our grandparent’s youth and that’s the self-driving family car. In this exhibit we’re exploring the history of autonomous vehicles in general, and the elusive dream of a car that drives itself.”

“Where To? A History of Autonomous Vehicles” opened on May 9 and will remain on exhibit through the end of November. The Museum is located at 1401 N. Shoreline Blvd. in Mountain View. Please call (650) 810-1010 for more information.

About Velodyne LiDAR

Founded in 1983 and based in California’s Silicon Valley, Velodyne, Inc. is a diversified technology company known worldwide for its high-performance audio equipment and real-time LiDAR sensors.
