Edulang launches E.C.E. “Edulang Certificate of English”, the first 100% online English Test.

Paris, France (PRWEB) March 15, 2012

To find a job or pursue higher education abroad, it has now become necessary for all non-native English speakers to certify their level of English. Today, these individuals are required to travel to a remote test site on a fixed date and pay a fee of upwards of 200 USD. This sector of activity represents more than 2 billion dollars in revenue per year worldwide, and yet due to its current requirements, only 20 million people have the means to afford such English tests.

“Edulang turns every computer connected to the internet into an examination center, available 24/7, and secured by webcam surveillance. We seek a potential market of 450 million people worldwide who do not have the resources to prove their English proficiency.” says Edulang’s President, Michel Nizon, whose company also distributes high quality, year-long English courses starting at 1 USD with 50% of the “Pay What You Want” proceeds donated to the humanitarian organization, Room to Read.

How it works?

This two-hour test consists of two major parts, listening and reading, each consisting of 100 questions. Before and after the examination, the examinee is required to be photographed via a webcam. Then, throughout the two-hour test the webcam continues to take a number of random photos to assure the continued and sole presence of the examinee.

Once the test is finished, an option to create an Edulang Certificate of English paper document will appear and the examinee can choose one of the photos taken during the test to appear on their certificate, or they can print their own version, however Edulang does not certify this latter version. Examinees thus receive a TOEIC®-equivalent score and can request an Edulang-certified certificate in the mail. Finally, it is worth noting that Edulang has an exclusive license for webcam-surveyed English examinations from a patent registered by Ness Access.
